The Grumpy Dungeon Masters hadn’t actually planned on talking about Sword World, but now that the backerkit has crushed 2.7 million dollars they pretty much had no choice. If you have ever wanted to play an RPG based on an anime that was based on Dungeons & Dragons and then converted to English then this is the one for you.
Jay talks a bit about detailing our characters with backgrounds, beliefs, and goals and how to make people actually roleplay them. If your character is a true believer in something they should have to take the good with the bad and rewarding them could be one way to make that happen.
Dan dives deeper into the history of Dungeons & Dragons and looks at the Drow series of modules by Gary Gygax. If 5E has made the Drow less fearsome then perhaps these modules will show you the true power of the Dark Elves!
